Jacqueline Nwando Onyejekwe is our featured author for this quarter. Jacqueline Onyejekwe is a twenty-five year old Nigerian-American who is currently completing her internship at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, New York. Her area of concentration is Family Medicine. She aspires to practice medicine in Nigeria and other African countries in the future.

Ms. Onyejekwe describes herself as an avid reader who enjoys reading the works of other African authors such as Chinua Achebe, Buchi Emecheta, Camara Laye, Wole Soyinka and Mariana Ba. Her passion for medicine is complemented by the love she has for reading and writing.

Jacqueline Onyejekwe's first novel, Half Woman, is a well-written, heart touching novel about a young woman's unique journey from childhood into adulthood in Igbo society. The theme of this novel is universal and it appeals not only to daughters, mothers and sisters, but also to sons, fathers and brothers everywhere. Half Woman causes us to re-examine the role that our cultural view plays in a dynamic society. Read Half Woman and journey with Amechi Okafor the main character in Ms. Onyejekwe's first novel.
