Eduwatch Nigeria Reads Project
Eradicate
Illiteracy in Nigeria!
Premise:
In order to promote and ensure literacy, efforts should permeate
all sectors of society. Eduwatch duly recognizes that places
of worship and other natural social gatherings are central
to the education of a people. Discussions about literacy must
not be confined to classrooms and office buildings alone but
must be alive within other settings where people naturally
congregate.
Purpose:
An essential part of Eduwatch work in supporting Nigerian
children is advocacy. We work to ensure that the needs of
our children are heard by sending speakers into various communities
for the purpose of providing information about our efforts,
inviting community leaders to join our efforts and collaborating
with other groups to strengthen their own pre-existing efforts
to promote literacy among Nigerians. The Nigeria Reads Project
is an invitation to religious, civic and social groups to
join hands with Eduwatch in various hands-on activities, such
as book collection drives and book exchanges, aimed at promoting
literacy among Nigerians
Benefits:
By participating, you will gain a greater awareness of the
impact of illiteracy and semi-illiteracy on Nigerians and
the impact on the life of Nigeria as a nation. You will engage
in practical communal ways toward opening the door to literacy
to others. You will also gain the satisfaction of giving back
to the community by improving the lives of those less fortunate
than you are.
