Meet A Nigerian Author
The Meet A Nigerian Author
Project is an effort to promote literacy among Nigerians and
to create cultural awareness and mutually beneficial exchanges
between Nigerians and other world citizens. This project features
a Nigerian author on the Eduwatch website (http://www.eduwatch.org)
periodically. It provides another forum wherein information
about the literary works of people of Nigerian descent can
be found.
Nigeria Reads
The Nigeria Reads Reads
Project is aimed at promoting literacy among Nigerians by
involving the community at large in building bridges to literacy
for elementary school age children attending needy schools
in Nigeria. This project engages the congregation at various
places of worship as well as members of social and civic clubs
in practical hands-on activities such as providing forums
for speakers from Eduwatch, book collection drives, book exchanges
and collection of funds to support shipment of much-needed
books to needy Nigerian elementary schools. Community groups
have an opportunity to create a presence for books and literacy.
Read Aloud
The Read Aloud Project
is an opportunity for literate adults in the community to
join Eduwatch in spreading a love of reading among young children
by reading out loud to them. It seeks to present children
proper models for the English language; to help foster an
appreciation of the rhythm and flow of the English language;
and most of all, to serve as a channel through which children
are led to develop a positive attitude toward reading and
are encouraged to become life long readers.
