Reflecting on 2001

Seasons Greetings! Reflecting on 2001
This has been a very eventful and change filled year worldwide.
The United States and the rest of the world have been touched
by the events of September 11th. While we are greatly saddened
by such acts of violence of man against man, we must turn
our energies toward those thoughts and actions that will
bring all people together and ensure that such acts of violence
never come to light again. Our deepest sympathies and warmest
wishes go out to all who were touched closely or at a distance
by that great tragedy. We wish you peace.
A lot has happened at Eduwatch this year. Even in these
difficult times, many good people continue to work vigorously,
though quietly to make our world a better place. Several
elementary schools have received books and other educational
materials to help make a quality education available to
their students due to the generosity of organizations and
individuals who have supported us through their donations
and contributions. Our Lady of Apostles Private School in
Lagos has received computers. Adeola Odutola Elementary
School in Ijebu-Ode, Awosika Elementary School in Ondo,
Owu Baptist Day School in Abeokuta and Sunrise International
School in Abuja have received shipments of high quality
books and reading material. There are other shipments waiting
to go out to more schools. Some more needy students at Lagos
University Staff School have been awarded education grants
to help them remain in school.
We have instituted two ongoing projects in the United States
to lift and educate Nigerians and other world citizens.
The Meet A Nigerian Author project celebrated its first
author, Jacqueline Nwando Onyejekwe. The Nigeria Reads project
is being implemented in conjunction with places of worship
and organizations that have the well being of Nigerians
at heart. The first edition our online newsletter, The Nigerian-American
Child Advocate was published. Our online credit card contribution
system is now in place.
We have a lot to be thankful for at Eduwatch. As we reflect
on our blessings and gifts this holiday season. We heartily
thank all our friends and supporters. We also thank those
who are still getting to know us because we believe that
each and every person that we meet has a lesson to teach
in our lives. We cannot rest on our laurels because we know
that "The harvest is so great, but the workers are
so few." We, therefore, must continue to pray to the
Lord who is in charge of the harvest to ask him to send
out more workers for his fields. We look forward to your
continued support, contributions and donations through this
holiday season and in the upcoming year.
On behalf of all of us at Eduwatch, I wish you a peaceful
holiday season and a prosperous New Year!
